NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING
To: The residents and property owners of Mendon Township, St. Joseph County, Michigan (the “Township”), and any other interested persons:
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Mendon Township Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on April 18, 2023, commencing at 7:00 p.m. at the Mendon Township Hall located at 136 W. Main Street, Mendon, MI 49072, within the Township. The items to be considered at the public hearing/meeting include, in brief, amendments to the Mendon Township Zoning Ordinance (“Zoning Ordinance”) which will:
- Repeal certain language related to kennels and livestock and insert new language regarding the keeping of animals in Mendon Township.
The Planning Commission will also consider such other and further matters as shall lawfully come before it at the meeting. All interested persons are invited and requested to attend the meeting and public hearing.
The Planning Commission reserves the ability to recommend the proposed ordinance changes to the Township Board for approval, to recommend alternative language and/or conditions or to recommend denial of the proposed ordinance amendment to the Township Board.
Pertinent information relative to this proposed amendment is on file at the Mendon Township Hall (located at 136 W. Main Street, Mendon, MI 49072) and may be examined upon scheduling an appointment with Donna Cupp, Clerk of Mendon Township, by calling her at (269) 496-7708.
Written comments concerning the above matter(s) may be mailed to Melissa Kline, the chairperson of the Mendon Township Planning Commission, at 26234 S. Shore Drive, Mendon, MI 49072, or sent via email to Douglas Kuhlman, the Township Zoning Administrator, at municipalzoning@gmail.com, prior to the public hearing/meeting. Written comments may further be submitted to the Planning Commission at the public hearing/meeting.
Mendon Township will provide necessary, reasonable auxiliary aids and services at the hearing/meeting to individuals with disabilities, such as signers for the hearing impaired and audiotapes of printed materials being considered, upon five (5) days notice to Donna Cupp of the need for the same.
